ꨄ︎ FROM GRADUATE TO PRACTICE OWNER
A JOURNEY OF DEDICATION AND OWNERSHIP
After practicing alongside Dr. Connelly for a year, she knew without a doubt that serving the St. Johns community and surrounding areas was where she was meant to be. To her, the patients and staff feel like family, and the use of modern, innovative technology keeps dentistry exciting and rewarding.
Dr. Capen is grateful that Dr. Connelly will continue practicing alongside her, and she looks forward to expanding her skills and growing the practice while always providing the best care possible.
Dr. Capen connected with the former practice owner during her final year of dental school. After visiting the practice and meeting the team, she knew she had found the place she was meant to be. Dr. Connelly became a wonderful mentor and encouraged Dr. Capen to pursue her dream of practice ownership. In August 2025, that dream became a reality.

ST. JOHNS DENTAL CARE OWNER & DEDICATED DENTIST
Dr. Aubree Capen grew up in Alma, Michigan, where she worked at her parents’ convenience store, played volleyball, and competed in cheerleading. With her sights set on dentistry early on, she stayed focused on academics and went on to graduate from Central Michigan University with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and Business.
She then earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from A.T. Still University — Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. During her final year of dental school, she had the opportunity to live and practice in Montana, Idaho, and New Mexico, gaining experience in a variety of dental settings and communities.
As of August 1, 2025, Dr. Capen is proud to be the new owner of St. Johns Dental Care. She is proud to call the “middle of the mitten” home!

Dr. Capen is a member of the Academy of General Dentists and the Michigan Dental Association and remains active in continuing education and advancements in dentistry.
She has a strong passion for patient care and a genuine desire to improve people’s oral and overall health. Dr. Capen is a lifelong learner who takes great pride in continually refining her clinical skills and expanding her knowledge of dentistry and whole-body health.

The Joy of Outdoors, Family AND Community
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Capen starts most days with an early morning run, which recharges her and helps her bring her best self to her patients.
She also enjoys hiking, camping, and paddle boarding — really anything outdoors — with her husband, Seth, and their beloved Pomeranian, Bear. Most of all, she cherishes family time and looks forward to continuing to serve the greater Mid-Michigan region with compassion, excellence, and a bright smile.
When she’s not creating healthy, happy smiles, you’ll often find Dr. Capen traveling and exploring the world, always seeking new adventures and experiences to enrich her life and the lives of those around her.

Dr. Capen takes great pride in her optimistic outlook on life and loves pouring into the people around her. Her personal mission is to bring “sunshine and smiles” to the middle of the mitten. When she’s not creating healthy, happy smiles, you’ll often find Dr. Capen hiking, camping, traveling, and exploring the world with her husband, Seth, and their 10-year-old chunky Pomeranian, Mr. Bear
